Wang Yuechuan is from Anyue County, Sichuan Province. He graduated from the Chinese Department of Sichuan University in 1982 and Peking University in 1988. Since 1993, he has been a professor and doctoral supervisor of the Chinese Department of Peking University, with special allowances from the State Council. He is the director of the Department of Literature and Art Theory, director of the Institute of Calligraphy and Art of Peking University, director of the Chinese Calligrapher Association, deputy director of the Education Committee of the Chinese Calligrapher Association, deputy president of the Beijing Calligraphy Academy and of International Calligraphers’ Association, a member of Chinese Writers Association, vice chairman of Chinese and Foreign Literary and Art Theories Society, dean of Hong Kong Institute of Chinese Culture, visiting professor of Kanazawa University, Japan, and of Humanities College, University of Macau. In November 2008, he was employed as a part-time professor in the College of Art, Lanzhou University.。
