Cao Qing is the vice president and chief architect of Gansu Architectural Design Research Institute and member of the Advisory Committee of Planning Experts of Jiu Quan City. During the work of the General Institute, he has actively participated in the architectural design of various projects, presided over and participated in the design of many large and key projects. In April 2009, he was employed as a part-time professor in the College of Art, Lanzhou University.
