  Zhang Chang, born in Tianjin in 1942, the fourth generation of “clay figure Zhang”, is a famous sculptor in China, professor of the Department of Sculpture, Academy of Fine Arts, Tsinghua University, and vice chairman of China Association of Folk Literary Artists. In 1961, he studied in clay sculpture class of the Central Academy of Arts and Crafts, and he taught in his university when he graduated from the Graduate School of Sculpture of the Central Academy of Arts and Crafts in 1981. He has successively been lecturer, associate professor, professor, director of sculpture teaching and research department and director of decoration Department of the Central Academy of Arts and Crafts. He is now a member of the Committee of the Chinese Federation of Literature and Art, vice-chairman of the Chinese Sculpture Specialized Committee, vice-chairman of the Beijing Folk Art Research Association, chairman of the Department of Sculpture, Tsinghua University, etc. In May 2006, he was appointed as a part-time professor in the School of Art, Lanzhou University.
