  Chang Shana, female, Manchu, is from Hangzhou, Zhejiang. From childhood, she imitated murals in Dunhuang with her father Chang Shuhong. Born in Lyon, France, in 1931, and Sona was named after her birthplace adjacent to the Seine River. It means "feminine" in French and "Shana" in Chinese. In 1948, she went to the United States to study. After returning to China in 1950, she taught at Tsinghua University and Central Academy of Fine Arts. She is a famous artistic design educator and artistic designer, professor, and expert with outstanding contributions of our country. She is now a member of the Standing Committee of the Ninth National People's Congress, a member of the Special Committee on Education, Culture and Health, a vice-chairman of the Chinese Artists Association, and an executive member of the fifth All-China Women's Federation. She was a member of the disciplinary review team of the Academic Committee of the State Council. In May 2006, she was appointed as a part-time professor in the College of Art, Lanzhou University.
